Kurumada Masami's first work was Sukeban Arashi (1974). It tells U about a Young Girl's life! But at that time Kurumada sensei did not found his own style yet! He still followed the classic type of Tetsuya Chiba. Three years later he wrote Ring ni Kakero [Challenge in the Ring] which was published from 1997-1981. It tells U about a Boxing Champ. which decides the fate of the world! Kurumada sensei had found his own style and began his career as a professional mangaka. Ring ni Kakero was created based on his admiration on Ashita no Joe (Tetsuya Chiba's work). While working on Ring ni Kakero, Kurumada
sensei also made some short mangas like Mabudachi
Jingi (1978) and Shiro Obi Taishou.
There are 3 series of Fuuma no Kojirou OVA (1989-1992). The character design was made by Shingo Araki and Michi Himeno--both are also the CD of Saint Seiya--while the production was supported by Animate, Group SNE and Sony! From 1984 to 1985 he wrote Otokozaka under Shueisha publisher. This story is adapted from "Sui Ko Den" with 108 characters, but he finished only a little part of it and abandon the 108 charas concept. He reached his top career in 1986 when he made his best work ever: Saint Seiya! The series was made in 28 tankoubon and distributed by Shueisha. Almost all people in the world know this title well! In 1993, Kurumada sensei tried to bring back the concept of Saint Seiya through Silent Knight Sho. Too bad that there's only one character in this story! After moved out from Shueisha, he created Evil Crusher Maya in 1996 while working as freelancer at Shonen Gangan (ENIX) magazine. Then he joined Kadokawa Shoten and created his second greatest work, B'T X! (KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA) ^^ SUKIIIIII! Having finished B't X, he returned to Shueisha and continued Ring ni Kakero with a simple title, Ring ni Kakero 2. And in 2002, Saint Seiya OVA: Hades Chapter was released! Have U seen it? And SS overture in 2004? Oh... in 2004, Ring ni Kakero Game was launching. It calls Final Battle! Within 28 years of his career, Kurumada sensei has created no less than 20 titles of manga! Taken from: Anima Genki vol 12 (NOV 2002)! |
